Pawteli vs PetExec

A long-established boarding, daycare and grooming system. Since being acquired it has stopped taking new customers.

Where Pawteli is different

No fee on your takings

A flat $149 a month whatever you turn over. We never sit between you and a card payment, so there is no percentage for us to take.

Your own card processor

Keep whatever you use now. Pawteli records what is owed and what you collected; the money never passes through us.

Leaving is one button

Every person, pet and vaccine date exports to CSV whenever you want, without asking anyone. It is in the settings page.

Vaccine certificates read for you

A pet parent photographs the certificate and the dates are read off it. Staff confirm in one tap, and nothing saves until they do.

Where PetExec is the better choice

A comparison with nothing good to say about the other side is an advertisement. These are real.

PetExec does this better

  • Years of features built up around boarding, daycare, grooming and retail
  • A large installed base that knows the software well
  • Built-in point of sale and retail inventory, which Pawteli does not have

Stay where you are if

  • You depend on its retail or point-of-sale features
  • You run grooming as a large part of the business, which Pawteli does not cover yet

Moving from PetExec

Export your customers and pets to CSV, then drop the file into the import page. Column names are matched automatically, including vaccine expiry columns, and you see the mapping and the first few rows before a single record is written. People are matched on email, so an owner with four dogs stays one customer instead of becoming four. Dates that cannot be read are reported rather than guessed.

Questions

Is Pawteli a good alternative to PetExec?
If what you want is boarding and daycare with flat pricing, your own card processor and data you can export any time, yes. If you need grooming, retail or point of sale, PetExec does those and Pawteli does not.
Who owns PetExec?
PetExec is owned by Togetherwork, a private-equity-backed group that also owns Gingr, PetExec and Revelation Pets.
Can I move my data from PetExec to Pawteli?
Yes. Export your customers and pets to CSV and drop the file into the import page. Columns are matched automatically and shown to you before anything is saved, and people are matched on email so one owner with several pets stays one owner.
Is Pawteli cheaper than PetExec?
Not necessarily on the monthly line. Pawteli is $149 a month flat. The difference is that there is no fee on your transaction volume, because Pawteli does not process payments at all.
